The tour starts at the City of Mendoza towards the south across the District of Luján de Cuyo, through the traditional wineries with ancient paths bordered by vineyards and the magnificent contrast with impressive Cordón del Plata. Upon reaching the District of Agrelo, following Los Cerrillos Road, the last foothills of the Pre-Andean Mountain Range are crossed to get deep into Uco Valley. A picturesque hamlet called San José comes next and then the tour heads northwest bordering Cordón del Plata as the surrounding scenery of the fertile Las Carreras valleys makes contrast with the majestic mountain range. At the foot of Cerro el Plata (6,100 masl), there lies the traditional estancia La Alejandra (1,900 masl). A visit to the venue leads visitors through its potato and cereal plantations, as well as to the fields where horses are bred. Old tracks are followed across steep ravines up to the area known as "El Altar" (The Altar), where a stop is made in order to admire a beautiful sight of Uco Valley. Once back at the estancia shell, a traditional lunch will be served (optional). Afterwards, visitors will go back to Las Carreras road heading north to reach La Ollada viewpoint, which displays the best view of the valley and Potrerillos dam. A winding road leads down to the Potrerillos mountain villages and then west through the high areas of Vallecitos up to the old San Antonio shelter. After a stop, the heights are left behind in order to visit Potrerillos dam and then head back for the City of Mendoza following International Route 7.
